Florence + The Machine- ‘Spectrum’

This is the best wig Florence has sported in a LONG time. Brilliant. Great song, too. What do you all think of Florence’s latest efforts?

(Tip/Warning: After a few plays, ‘Spectrum’ becomes the catchiest of the catchy. It will stick in your brain like glue. Preaching over and out…)

MDNA Tour- Express Yourself/Born This Way Leak

Cast your mind back to early 2011, and you’ll remember the ‘Born This Way’ war between Lady Gaga and Madonna. Many claimed that Gaga was ripping off Madonna’s classic, whilst the opposition bravery fought Gaga’s territory by shooing off the internet wind up merchants. Just to add more salt into the old wound, it has been reported that the above video was recorded at Madonna’s MDNA tour rehearsal over the weekend and that the singer has remixed the two songs together especially for the occasion.

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but is this Madonna stirring up old trouble, or is she accepting that she’s a fan of ‘Born This Way’? Either way, it’s clearly not a coincidence. Hopefully the song is a nod towards Gaga as a sign of approval, but what do you all think? I’m on the fence…

Kelly Clarkson- ‘Dark Side’

With ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you Stronger’ still lurking around on British radio after months of airplay, it’ll be refreshing to hear Kelly’s new single ‘Dark Side’ replace it over the next few weeks. The whole concept’s a bit cheesey but the songs a gooden, and a definite grower. Your thoughts?

Cheryl’s ‘A Million Lights’ Artwork!

X Factor Day 1- Tulisa and Geri
Now, I’ll admit that I’m a serial X Factor grumbler. The show annoys me. But amongst its flaws, there’s no denying that the show does provide (albeit limited at times) a level of entertainment, and today has just been one of those days! SO, much, to, discuss…
When Geri was announced as one of the shows ‘guest’ judges that would imminently fill the Kelly Rowland sized void over the audition stages, I was beyond confused. She’s quite a funny soul I must admit, but is she judge material? That I’m not so sure of, judging from her guest slots in the past. But not to trash talk the Halliwell for too long, she did turn up looking amazing at the auditions today! Tulisa take note, simple is often a lot more effective than a colour clash. (Although, Miss C- you are brilliant, usually. You’re welcome.)
Standing aside from the fashion crowning (which Geri has quite clearly won during round/day 1)- who do you think will become the new X Factor judge? I’m secretly hoping for the Pezza myself, but what about you all? Throw names at me!

Katy Perry- ‘Wide Awake’ (Lyric Video)

Unbelievably, ‘Wide Awake’ will be Pezza’s 8th single from ‘Teenage Dream’. 8th? When have you ever heard such a thing?!

Presumably this will be her last single from the album, but then again who knows? Maybe there could be a 9th in store for us all!

Jordin Sparks- ‘I Will Always Love You’

Since Whitney’s passing in February, many have jumped on the ‘I’ll make a tribute’ bandwagon. But last night, during the Billboard Awards, Jordin Sparks sang ‘I Will Always Love You’ as past of the tribute session of the awards- and she was phenomenal! She sis the girl justice, alright. Enjoy!

(And if this video gets taken down, I apologise. Those YouTube bandits don’t half get annoying!)

Maroon 5- ‘Payphone’

Wouldn’t it be nice if Adam Levine was dialing our number? We can dream, right girls? Either way, after months of waiting for the ‘Payphone’ release/video, it’s finally here! Hurrah!

iPod update, imminent.

‘What Makes You Beautiful’- One Direction Parody

We all need that little nod that gets us in the mood for the weekend, and being 5:30pm on Friday- IT’S THE WEEKEND people! Hurrah!

Now before I get attacked by Directioners left, right and centre I don’t dislike the boys, at all. I actually think their story is pretty amazing. I just thought this little piece of genius was the best thing that the internet has showed me all afternoon, and I’m showing my gratitude by spreading the word. It’s all in the name of good fun. Enjoy all!

Pitbull- ‘Back In Time’ (For Men In Black III)

I have a confession to make; something which shocked my best friends beyond belief when I revealed all the other day. Before the weekend, I’d never seen Men In Black! Dreadful, I know. Luckily I was redeemed on Sunday as Channel 4 played the first one- so HURRAH for that. My film soul has been resurrected from a dark dark place; phew.

But if you’re after my opinion, the tune for MIB III (which is out in all good cinemas in the next couple of weeks, folks) doesn’t have a patch on Will Smith’s epic rap fest circa ‘97. If you’d like to be reminded of the ‘oh so good’ times, please feel free to click on this perfectly placed link here which will take you to YouTube/our Homeboy Smith. You’re welcome.

Back onto this Pitbull fiasco though, erm- what was the boy thinking?! Remixing an old Dirty Dancing classic (think: dancing scene, floor, miming?) into a modern MIB feast? Who’s he trying to repeat, the Black Eyed Peas? Please. Already been done pal. So as you can see, I’m not happy. Sure it’s catchy, but not in a good ‘I’m a ninja’ way that a MIB soundtrack song should be. Suppose we’ll just have to deal with this one, but on the plus side the film is out on the 25th of May- will you all be tuning in?
